FOR SALE, from my step daughter's father's estate is a 1938 Epiphone Zenith Acoustic Guitar. Serial number 12839 denotes the year 1938. Guitar is is decent condition. First, a little history on the guitar. This guitar has been sitting in a house for many years, UNPLAYED. My step daughter's grandfather was the original owner, and played it 30 years ago. It was handed down to his son, who did not play it. He passed away and it was handed down to his daughter, who does not play. Therefore it is for sale! The neck is remarkably straight with little fret wear. The action is a little high for my taste. A renowned guitar repair shop in Portland reccomends a neck reset to bring the action down. Due to their professional opinion we have relisted this guitar and lowered the price from $600 to $450 to accomadate someone taking on this expense. However this guitar would make a killer slide guitar with no adjustments. There are no cracks in the wood and is structurally sound. The white plastic binding that surrounds the guitar body is dis colered and cracked in a few places. I have installed new strings and they have stayed in tune. One of the original tuners has been replaced with a similar tuner, however a different color. 5 tuners are original, worth $100 or more each to some collectors according to my sources. The case is original from that era and worth about $100 or more to some buyers. The case is very popular because it also fits certain other vintage guitars such as Martin, etc. This is a VINTAGE guitar. I am happy to send more pics by request. We are entertaining bids of $425.00 and up. Sorry no trades, cash only, please. Please do not call if you are not offering at least $425.00, cash. Serious inquires only, please. Call Will at 503-882-6199 or 503-319-8882 cell for faster service and an appointment. Due to my job, I only check email once a day. Thanks for looking.

Goya Rangemaster in Tulsa OK for $525

Very collectible Goya Rangemaster - though this one is not in perfect condition - still it looks pretty good and seller says it plays well with all electronics working.  These are just totally cool guitars - and would look (and sound) great in some cool new Indie Band's Video.

"Probably the most famous Goya guitar and the one that people may have heard of, would be the Goya Rangemaster series of electric guitars. Made between 1965 and 1969, the Rangemaster was used by the likes of Jimi Hendrix during his reign in the late 1960's."

This quote was pulled from this story;

http://ezinearticles.com/?Goya-Guitars-and-the-Goya-Rangemaster&id=2237289

This guitar has been loved and played over these last 40 yrs, but is still in great condition and has years of life still in her. All the electronics work as they should with tons of famous “Rangemaster” variations at your finger tips. My son’s favorite switches are the Lo, Mid, and Hi. As you can see it does have some dings and a little chipping mainly by the headstock, most likely from where it hung. It also has a crack on the front, but nothing that compromises the structural integrity of the guitar. The lower strap pin also needs a little tightening. All it needs is a little TLC. I have taken several pictures to give you a good look, but I encourage you to ask any and all questions. I have tried to describe this beauty as honestly as I can, so bid with confidence. Case is nothing to write home about, but was built to withstand a bomb and does a great job of protecting her. Make no mistake this is a rare find and one you will be proud to show off. This site has tons of great info on the Home page, but this links takes you to a picture of one of these in mint condition:

Vintage Hofner 176 Galaxie in Woodbridge VA for $275

Here is a nice looking Galaxie; 3 pickup solidbody guitar made in Germany in mid to late 60's,    These Hofner pickups can sound pretty good - sort of a more full range P-90 sound.   You don't see these too often.   Thumbwheel controls are sort of a pain in the a** but do give it major vintage vibe.

Valco made Montgomery Ward tube head in SF bay Area for $220

Uncommon but probably great sounding tube head in SF bay area.  Seller says 80 watts with four 6V6 but that sounds a little generous. More like 30-40 watts (think AC30 if tubes are in Class A not push-pull) - however there is a good chance this amp can also take 6L6 tubes (cathode Bias?  Fixed?) so you'd have to check but either way it is a heck of a deal.  As it is I bet if you crank it up it sounds like Sweet-Mother-Of-God tube crunch.   There may be a diode rectifier in this one.

Note that this is a real P-T-P amp (there is no tag board) versus simply hand-wired.  Don't make em like this anymore.  Also Note: This is Montgomery Ward not Airline - just a branding issue but would matter to some. - JC

1972 Montgomery Ward brand, Valco made tube amp head. 80 watts, 4 6V6, 3 GE 12AX7 (vintage).

This head is in pretty good shape for it's age. Two channels, both work and sound great, 4 inputs,

panel lights don't come on, but I haven't checked the bulbs. All point to point, hand wired.

This model is w/out trem or reverb, comes w/ two-prong plug.

Music Man 110 RD Combo in St.Louis for $350

People either love or don't know about the Music Man amps.  Personally, any amp that was designed, built and overseen by Leo Fender himself at every stage  is a serious work of art to me.  These 110 RD's are incredible little two channel amps that have dual 6L6 output tubes, seperate eq for each channel, a single 12AX7 for one channel (phase inverter and distortion) and somehow push 50 tube watts thru a single 10 inch ceramic speaker.  This stands up well against a Super Champ, though the distortion is less high gan - oh and did I mention it also has footswitchable REVERB!

Like all Leo Fender designs these amps are basically bulletproof.  Probably good for another 30+ years easy.

This is a 1981 Music Man RD110. It has a 10" speaker, brand new tubes, footswitch and amp cover.

This amp is 50w it has lots of power and is very easy to haul around. Everything works as it should, Great for playing out. There is tape covering a small hole in the grill, this does not effect playability in anyway.

I am interested in trading for a nice acoustic/electric or possibly an epiphone les paul with a case.

Otherwise I would sell for 350 cash,firm.

1972 Gibson SG II in at GC in San Bern CA for $499 - SOLD!

Don't believe that nobody ever gets a good vintage deal at Guitar Center. Check out this 1972 Gibson SG II that sold this morning at the Guitar Center in San Bernardino, CA - $499 out the door.   These are sweet!  And this one has a single toggle switch not the two crappy sliders - probably a user mod but I've heard from some that Gibson made a version with a toggle - but the offset appearance of this one would make me believe it was added aftermarket.

This only sat on the floor at GC a couple days - I called today and found out it sold this morning.  Sweet.

Peavey Mantis 80's vintage electric in Chicago for $300

Okay it had to happen - I am listing a Peavey guitar.  I have alot of repsect for Hartley Peavey and I think he doesn't get enough kudos for building real guitars and amps right here in the Good Ole' USA (Mississippi!).

Peavey guitars aren't really collected much at this point - but check out this Mantis.  Talk about "pointy guitars."   These are certainly rare - be the first on your block.  Just remember... "I told them a hundred times.. Spinal Tap first - then Puppet Show!"

1979 Gretsch Beast BST-1000 in Coco Beach FL for $400

Neat late 70's Gretsch. Evolution of the Corvette.  These have their fans for sure - there are several different levels of the Beast and this 1000 is the lowest.  There is a 1500 and I think a 3000 and maybe a 5000 model too. This one has a bolted neck that is partially set (volute?) and I think those chrome humbuckers are Dimarzio's underneath but some people say Seymour Duncans.  Either way these are good hard rock guitars.  There is a Youtube video of one of these that gives a good idea of the sound.

1972 Gibson SG-I (SG1) in Tampa FL for $675

These SG-1's always fly well below-the-radar because they don't have the classic SG look - they almost look like Japanese copies - but of course they aren't.  It is a real USA Gibson made in Kalamazoo.  The mini-humbucker on these is supposedly more punchy than the ones they put on the Les Paul Deluxe.  Gibson reissued the SG-I in 1997-1998 and it was a bigger hit because that one looked more like a regular SG Special - and it had the 500T pickup so it was a good metal guitar.  I've seen these go for even cheaper than this but it is still a good price for a 1972 USA Gibson electric.

Fender Classic Player Strat in Sonic Blue in Orange County CA for $450

I've played these MIM Fender Classic Player Strats (do not confuse with the Classic 60's Strat - different guitar) and the 69 Custom Shop pickups sound really good in these. You have to like a 12" radius C shaped neck - which may feel funny at first if you are used to a 9 1/2 but you'll grow ito love it. When I was looking at these they were $900 new and they've since lowered them to $800 in the stores - so at $450 this one is still a good deal.   This one has a chip on the bottom - but that doesn't spoil the vibe if you are like me.

1968 Gibson B-15 Acoustic in Nashville for $500

Nice B-15 mahogany body acoustic from 1968.  These are similar to the LGO but I think the B-15 is either a step up from the LGO or it eventually replaced it.  I don't think these have the cheap plastic nut and bridge that plagues the LGO.  I've also heard they are narrower at the nut (1 5/8") making them better for small hands.

West 115 H "Grande" Guitar/ Bass head and Cabinet in Grand Rapids MI - could be cheap?

These WEST branded Amplifiers show up every once in a while and usually only in Michigan.  Dave West was an amp builder out of Flint Michigan who made amps for guys like Dick Wagner (lead guitar with Lou Reed & Alice Cooper) and Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad back in the mid 60's and early 70's.

This seller seems to know little about this piggyback setup.  Dave West was a hi-fi aficianado who used Dynaco parts so the amps have very hi-grade specs.  I think these amps may use KT66 or KT88 tubes.  If that is a West cabinet then it is likely to have at least one JBL D130F or D140F speaker since Dave West was a JBL distributor in Michigan at the time. He later used the EV SRO speakers but this looks like an earlier model to me.   West still makes and modifies tube amps and has always had a good rep in the biz.

I doubt the seller will know much about this gear (he doesn't even seem to know that the bottom is just a speaker cab) but you can google West Amps and Dave West to find out more after you call the listing.

1950's Harmony H/52 Stratotone Newport in Sarasota Springs NY for $500

Here is a real old solid body electric - yellow is one of the original colors along with gold and green.  This one has the "Harmometal trim" (basically chrome binding) on the body and looks like it is all original; these came with stacked Vol and Tone and a tone defeat switch to go from muted to bright.  These early Stratotones aren't set neck or through the body - the neck and body were actually carved from one single piece of wood.  Makes for a hell of a slide guitar.  These H42 models are serious collector guitars from the mid-century - I don't know if they play as well as the H44 models but they are certainly hard to find.

Rare Harmony 535 tube 50w head project in Battle Creek MI for $50

I've never seen one of these Harmony 535 heads before but the seller is correct in that it looks very similar to a Silvertone 1484.  50 watts of dual 6L6 power - even the knob layout on the front panel is the same.  Of course this one isa project so you need to know what you are doing - this may or may not have a similar schematic to the Silvertone.  But if you are handy this is certainly a good deal for a vintage tube head.

Harmony H535 Guitar Amplifier Head This amp head is being sold for repair or parts. It has a similar tube compliment to the Silvertone 1484. Has full compliment of tubes, but are/never were matched or biased for the amp. Reverb pan is missing and the second channel needs work. Has hum in both channels. Tremolo does work, but not as it should. I have been on the look out for this same model over the past several years to compare price, but haven’t seen any sell over the past year. It appears to be the largest amp that Harmony made, but don’t quote me on that. Knobs are the same ones used on the Silvertone models. What you see is what you get. I don’t have a cab but I can demo it off of the speakers in my Vibrolux. Cash price only. $50.

UPDATE - I plugged this in last night after I posted and it is now not working as well as it did. It plays for about 30 seconds and then cuts out.

This is the modern solid body version of the Rick 12 string and these are really nice guitars.  They have the single coil "toaster" pickups that sound just incredible - exactly what you would want in a vintage 12 string electric for tone - and the 660 also has the 12 seperate saddles on the bridge which is better for intonation than the 360.   I don't have to tell you that $900 is a heck of a deal on this highly prized and very much in demand USA made electric guitar.   These usually go for Les Paul Standard prices.  Oh and BTW: the Jet-Glo black finish is stunning.

Here is a very nice deal on a cool player though not really a collector guitar.  The Lead II is not well known.  They were Fender's last attempt at making a full-size USA made lower cost student guitar before creating the Bullet and Squier lines in the 80's.  This one is a 1980, all Maple and maybe ash - these are fairly heavy and solid guitars with a string through hardtail and nice fast 30 year old maple neck.  You may recall that Steve Morse played one of these back in the day.  They sustain very well.  I can't vouch for the EMG active pickups but you can play it and decide for yourself.  The knock on these was that the lower cost finish didn't hold up well from the factory - but this one still looks good to me.  All I can say is, $300 for a Fullerton made USA Fender electric guitar.  Not bad.

Pair of nice Harmony Stella parlor guitars in Tucson for $85

Hopefully it is $85 for the pair because that is how the ad seems to read.  I like the fact that one has the white pickguard and the other one is black.

If you are not familiar with these then stay away - these catalog guitars are far from great players - but they are fun to collect and own.  Never confuse one of these with a real pre-war Stella parlor acoustic.

Harmony H1215 Archtop Project at GC on Rhode Island for $15

Apparently this guitar has "lots of damage" (though not much visible in the photo) and they are blowing it out at the Guitar Center in Rhode Island for only $14.97 - bizarre but could be a deal for a fixer-upper.

Just call the Manager Tony Barber to ask about it.

VINTAGE HARMONY 1215 ACOUSTIC - Lots of damage, needs work, great living room guitar - Special price of $14.97!

Harmony 000-18 Style Dreadnaught acoustic in St. Louis MO for $100

If you like older Harmony guitars (like I do) then you might like this Flat top acoustic.  The top could be either wide grain Spruce or Mahogany (rosewood?) but it certainly looks nice.  This would be somewhere around 50 years old - maybe late 50's or early 1960's - so if it's lasted this long it should be good to go.
