As always - I prefer you call me and talk turkey rather than just send one of the endless emails I get asking "Can you send me pics of the blah blah blah..." My cell is 818-744-2791 Thanks - Jim  C

This is a Great vintage guitar, in wonderful shape..

My Grandfather was the original owner.

Family has had this guitar for over 50 years

This Vintage KAY made 'Old Kraftsman' is a collectors as well as ready to play.

This guitar is from the early 60's. It is around 50 years old and still plays great.

Hate to see it go

My loss is your gain

Stunning Kay Swingmaster in Indianapolis for $575

Okay, I know $575 is a lot of money and these are not the most in demand guitars in the world but - look at how beautiful this 1965 Swingmaster is - it is just stunning.  The fully inlaid trapezoid neck and the Kleenex box pickups and that is not the usual painted on tiger-stripe - that looks like a real nicely flamed maple top.  Even the case is in beautiful shape.

These guitars are not going to be everyone's cup of tea - it is not a serious rock axe - better for laid back jazzy riffing - but it is a beautiful well preserved piece of American manufactured artisanship.

1965 Kay arched top semi hollowbody thin line “Swingmaster” model K672 with a Sunburst finish, 2 Barnie Kessel Kleenex Box Gold “K” Pickups, Grover tuning keys, all original electronics and finish. This guitar was purchased at a warehouse sale in Chicago in 1966, it was played on and off through the 70's and has rarely been used over the last 30 years. Excellant condition with a couple of small nicks, and typical age on the finish, the original case is still solid and functional.

Wow! Supro 1616T tube amp in Chicago area for $200 - just listed!

These little 1616T's are super rare and hard to find - they are very much in demand.  The 6x9 alnico is a perfect match for the single 6V6 power tube - this amp should sound great at full tilt in the studio - once you clean up whatever is causing the crackle and static.

This sounds like it hasbeen in the owners family for 50 years.  And you gotta love the name of the town - Homer Glen - what a cool little find.

I have a Supro vintage tube amp model 1616T (Valco-Chicago 51) for sale. I believe it was built in '59 or '60. It's all original except that the plug was changed into a 3-prong. The output power is around 10 watts max. There are 2 input channels and a tremolo function. The tremolo still works great. The amp plays well but there is some static/crackle at higher volumes. It has a single 6" x 9" speaker. It has been in my possesion since the mid-60's and belonged to a cousin before that. Pictures attached. Cash only please and you pick up. If you're interested or would like further info please contact me. Located in Homer Glen not far from 143rd and Bell.

1974 SG Deluxe in Jacksonville FL area for $900

This is a non-stock early 70's Gibson SG Deluxe (or is it Deluxe SG?) from when Norlin was trying to reduce costs so they added the control plate on the front of the guitar.  This one looks like it is a Walnut body - some people like that in an SG.  It also has full sized humbuckers which is nice since some of these guitars have the black mini humbuckers with the funky (i.e. cheap) flip switches.  This one should be a player - though it's a shame the Bigsby tailpiece is gone.  Still a rare find and a decent price for a 35+ year old Gibby.  Oh and I can't forget for all of the oh-so fussy afficianados out there - it has a "volute." hehe  - JC

Vintage Gibson GA-50 Tube combo in Los Angeles for $275

Non-working but ooooohh so rare Gibson from the old "coke bottle" tube days.  This amp is at least 55+ years old and whatever is wrong with it can probably be fixed by a reasonable tech.  As long as it isn't the transformers you are in good shape.  Most likely the ancient paper-in-oil caps are just totally leaked to hell.

One of the earliest versions of a professional electric two speaker guitar amplifier you can find.

Airline Town & COuntry Electric Guitar in Raleigh NC for $400

Nice looking Valco made Airline Town & Country - this is the single pickup model - I have the two pickup model myself and love it.  Expect great tone from this guitar - great sound, solid one piece body and heavy.

This particular one does look to be in very nice shape. The neck, body, finish, plastics and hardware are all in beautiful shape.   The Town & Country model was made from about 1958 thru 1965.

Ampeg V-4 head in Austin TX for $400

Wanna sound like Keith Richards on tour circa 1975?  Or maybe like me when I was 17 years old (yep I had one too).  This is the Ampeg V-4 guitar head - 100 watts of LOUD tube tone - tons of headroom means that the crunch usually comes from your speakers (or your eardrums) being torn but the sound is very warm.  Oh and BTW - if you ever thought you were a badass - try hoisting this with one hand and tossing it on top of your 4x12 - Can you say kidney punch?  The transformer in this amp is about the size and weight of the freakin' bench vise in your dad's old workshop.

You are guaranteed never again to be "lost in the mix." LOL.

Great MIJ retro POS garage rig in Sherman TX for $175

Here's an oppportunity to go back and buy your first original POS guitar rig and sound just as crappy as you did back then!!

Of course, I jest - but you gotta love this setup.  It would make a great display piece for a trashy psych/punk/blues bar or retro 60's vintage clothing store.  You get a Guyatone made dual pickup catalog guitar and a MIJ Gibson solid state practice amp - serious vintage gear hounds will zero in on that original "coily" guitar cable and that (Levy's?) strap -they could be worth more than all the rest.  But overall it is a hoot!

1968 Goya N-21 Mahogany Acoustic - Made in Sweden - in Richmond VA for $100

Goya is one of thsoe Imports that has a wide and varied history - these Swedish Goya's were made by the Levin company in Sweden from the 1950's up to 1973 when Martin bought the Goya name and made the guitars in Japan.   This all Mahogany guitar should have a nice deep dark warm tone - and it looks to be in overall good shape.  It's not a Gibson LGO but is still should play and sound nice.

One unique feature is the offset fret dot similar to a Gretsch of the time.

1958 Gibson GA-5 tube combo amp in Grand Rapids, Michigan for $250

This is a 1958 Gibson GA-5 Skylark - a real tweed era amp for a decent price.  This one looks to be a "transition" Skylark because it still has the Tweed Cabinet but not the exact same TV front design as the original Les Paul Jr. Amp. The Les Paul Jr designation was dropped in 1957.

If you are really lucky this will have a 6SJ7 preamp tube (which I love) but I believe Gibson switched over the smaller 12AX7 around this time so it is more likely that.   Either way it could be a nice addition to your home or studio arsenal.

Here is a nice looking mid 70's Vibrochamp for $350 - that's a good deal - you wouldn't catch me selling one for less even in this hideous market.  And this particular one looks all original and pretty clean.

VibroChamps do sound different than a Champ - don't let people convince you differently unless you hear it for yourself.  I've always found the Vibrochamp circuit to be cleaner all around than the Champ's - that's why I've always had one of each.

Teisco K2-L in Kalamazoo MI for $200

Here is a cool old K2-L - one of the better playing Teisco's.  Blue is the most popular but the red ones are still cool.   If you are lucky this one should have the 4x2 headstock.  These sharkfin models are some of the few Teisco's you may occasionally see onstage with pro rock players since with a little luck they can be set up to play in tune and they don't go microphonic at high stage volumes (like most Teisco made pickups do).

1950's Kay single pickup Hollow Body Jazz Guitar in Monterey CA for $325

This Kay hollow electric looks to be in very nice shape.  It is rather unusual since it looks like a 3/4 depth rather tha a full size acoustic like the N-2 and it has the single cut soft curve lower bout that is similar to the Kay electric Bass of the time or the Jimmy Reed model.  It has the signature Pickgaurd found on both the barney Kessell and the "Speed Demon" but I've never seen those type of knobs before - that's why I still love doing this blog - I can always find another vintage USA guitar I haven't seen before.

Rare Blonde Harmony FL-59 in Kalama, WA -

I don't think I would pay nearly the $1100 the seller says one of these fetched at recent auction - but then again he says he is "in a generous mood" so who knows what he will accept.  No matter, it is still a cool and hard to find Harmony Archtop from the late 1950's.    You don't see too many of these - I guess the added diamond soundhole was a novelty that never panned out sinceit didn't appear on any other Harmony guitars since.

Univox 1974 Les Paul Copy in St. Goerge Utah for $250

I saw this guitar for sale about 6 months ago in the same area so I guesss it never sold.

The seller says this is a "Mother" but the Univox Mother is a bolt-on neck guitar with trapezoid inlays and this one looks likea set neck with dots on the fretboard.  Now keep in mind that some of the Univox "set neck" guitars actually have bolts that screw in from the top (mounted under the neck pickup) but some were real set necks like the later Ibanez models.   The seller says this guitar has real GIbson pickups so that would be a plus.

If you are anywhere in the Utah/AZ area you might want to check this out and see if it is a good deal.

60's Vintage Univox Mother Rhythm N Blues Guitar- Relic Gibson Les Paul style... some modifications including late model Gibson Pickups worth more than what I'm asking. This Relic is a beater, but the action is fast N smooth. My Son is the musician - not me! so no comments from the peanut gallery! The seller seems to be right on the money about this guitar.  Likely a Harmony, Regal or Supertone and most likely from the late 1930's or early 1940's (I've had very similar models over the years).  This should have a nice gentle V-shaped neck and a real "woody" bluesbox tone.

If you are like me you always have to have at least one of these old ladder-braced USA blues guitars in open tuning ready to do a little Delta slide shout n' stomp.

Here's a 1930/40's parlor guitar. I couldn't find a name on it but I'm assuming it's a harmony/supertone/sears brand guitar. It's got the small parlor body and slotted headstock common to blues and ragtime guitars of the time. It's got slightly raised action, so it's great for slide. It plays well in standard as well (it's no electric guitar...all I'm saying). If you're reading this ad than you probably know the score with these types of guitars.

When I got it the nut and one tuner were cracked. They've been replaced with pieces from Stewart MacDonald. Everything works as it should, just wanted to make sure everyone knew it had two non-original parts.

Please send me an email with any questions you may have. I live in SNJ but am in philly often...

Thanks and have a good one.
