Harmony Stella H929 Acoustic in Seattle area for $50

This seller is offering one of the later versions of the Stella/Harmony H929 with the "cowboy style" pickguard (possibly an H-6128) If you've never owned one of these and you play fingerstyle they are fun to have.

Don't expect much downward pressure on the strings with that stamped tailpiece and floating bridge - but that is part of the overall style and sound of these.

Good day chaps,
I have a Harmony acoustic right-handed 6-string guitar for sale, with a hard case. The best estimate I can get for when it was made is between 1958-1968.

This thing is in great condition, hardly any noticeable nicks or anything. All the tuners work, and the thing stays in tune forever. The hard case isn't perfect, but its flaws are small and purely aesthetic, just a little wear on the inside and some edges.

Harmony made these guitars almost entirely out of mahogany, with a rosewood fretboard and a shell celluloid pick guard. People have said this is a perfect guitar for folk or blues music, great for sliding and cheap enough to also be a beginner guitar for someone's holiday gift. The sound is bright and loud.

Selling because I have too many guitars, and trying to save up for something bigger.

Contact me if you want more info. Will take ad down when sold.

Ampeg G115 with JBL K130 speaker in Pasadena for $200

This seller in Pasadena is offering a vintage Ampeg G115.

I don't know if there are any Pedal Steel players who read this forum but this Ampeg would make a great pedal Steel Amplifier.  Tons of clean headroom with a nice spring Reverb and deep Ampeg Tremolo circuit all feeding into a Vintage JBL K130 which many players believe is the ultimate steel guitar amp speaker.

This would probably also make a great vintage keyboard amp - and it is on wheels which is great!

Up for sale is this vintage Ampeg G115 Amplifier from the 1970s. It's 175 Watts of Solid State power, features a 15" JBL K130 Speaker, fantastic-sounding tremolo, and spring reverb. It also features 2 inputs, volume, bass, mid. range, mid. freq., presence, and sensitivity controls. Comes with casters for easy access and mobility.

Studiomaster VLM 60 Watt All Tube combo amp in Pasadena for $300

This seller is offering an exceptional deal on a rare 1981 Studiomaster guitar tube amp.  Studiomaster is a British mixing board company with a solid reputation since the 1970's and this was their only foray into the world of guitar amps.   It seems they were going for a Mesa Boogie type combo and the reviews from owners are very good - especially in regard to the quality and durability of the construction.  However, note that while this is a two channel amp it does use the same preamp gain for both channels so you can't do a "totally Clean A channel and a Totally dirty B channel switching setup - you would have to use some kind of a pedal in front to achieve that effect.

Heck of a lot of amp though for $300.  Earl Slick was an early endorser of these rare amps.

It features a 5 band graphic equalizer, and on-board 16" Type 4 Accutronics (model AB2A1B) spring reverb unit, and a Fane 12" speaker. Comes with Owner's Manual. Be sure to take a good look at the pickup on this guitar and the placement.  You can find them easily.

VIntage Japanese electric (Teisco? Guyatone?) in need of a few parts to make it complete. Slab hardwood body, single pickup. Bolt-on mahogany-type neck. It's missing the nut, bridge, two knobs. and four of the tuning pegs.

Parts are available online for these guitars - also I have some parts that might work. It would make a fun project! I just don't have the time.

Major Movie event for ROLLING STONES fans in Los Angeles

The American Cinematheque in Los Angeles is showing an incredible Rolling Stones double bill tonight so if you are a Stones fan you will definitely want to check it out.  The first film follows them in Ireland in 1965 and the second is in Texas during the Some Girls tour in 1978.  BOTH of the films have never been seen before and are restored, remixed and upgraded to high quality sound and visual specs.

The first film begins at 7:30pm and tickets cost $11 for the double bill.

American Cinematheque

(Hollywood)

 Description

Double Feature:

THE ROLLING STONES: CHARLIE IS MY DARLING, IRELAND 1965, 2012, 85 min. In 1965, Rolling Stones svengali Andrew Loog Oldham asked filmmaker Peter Whitehead to accompany them on a quick tour of Ireland. Whitehead was astonished, not only by the incredible power of the Stones’ performances but by the raw energy of the crowds of young people that rushed them everywhere. This behind-the-scenes diary of the early Stones has never been seen, with a painstaking restoration of over 90,000 frames of optical screen prints and negative that go back to the original sound tapes and 3-track live recordings. Included are electrifying performances of "(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction," "The Last Time" and "Time Is On My Side." [DCP]

THE ROLLING STONES: SOME GIRLS LIVE IN TEXAS, 2012, 100 min. This never-before-seen concert movie captures the world famous band at the height of their musical career. Shot on 16mm at Fort Worth, Texas in 1978, the film has been upgraded to high definition with a 5.1 audio track. It opens with Sir Mick Jagger being interviewed in August 2011, during which he introduces the concert and offers insight into its significance in the bands history. [DCP]

DAWES - "Time Spent in Los Angeles" - Modern band with a Vintage Sound

I am late to the party on these guys (especially since they are local to my area) but a guy just turned me on to DAWES and I wanted to let my readers know about them.

They have a great sound, excellent vocal harmonies, quality lyrics, and a general style reminiscent of early Neil Young, Jackson Browne, The Eagles, and The Band with a little Black Keys and Rolling Stones circa Exile on Main Street thrown in. Singer-guitarist Taylor Goldsmith delivers some tasty licks on his Telecasters.  I don't know if he is playing a vintage or Custom Shop Tele in the video but I like that SF Princeton Reverb in the background.

Check them out on Youtube when you get a chance and you'll see more of the same high quality songs. - JC

Ventura Bruno Classical acoustic in West LA for $60

If you are looking for a nicely aged Classical guitar with what looks to be a solid spruce top this seller in West LA  is offering a 1960's Japanese made Ventura Bruno that he just restrung for only $60.

Japanese acoustic guitars from this period can be very hit or miss but my experience is that the ones that have been kept around this long in decent shape are usually pretty good players.  This is likely to be a 45 year old guitar.

GREAT CLASSICAL GUITAR, BRUNO VENTURA 1583, with STAND, GREAT PRICE - $60 (West Los Angeles)

I just polished this rich-toned beautiful classical guitar and put new D'Addario strings on it.
This beauty looks, sounds and plays great, featuring dark wood, pleasing tones and nice action.
This exact make and model is selling on eBay currently for as much as $150, but I need the money
so I will sell this guitar and a guitar stand to you for much less than half that price,
only $60.

Thank you for your interest.

All the best,
Bruce

1965 SOUND X-305R 1x15" tube combo amp in Pasadena for $350

This seller is offering a rare bird indeed, the Sound X-305R  (which he calls an X-305R-2 not sure why).  There is not much info on these available but they have been featured in Collectors Weekly and there is a schematic and photos posted on another website as well  SOUND X-3065R PICS and an article about some simple modifications to this model on PREMIER GUITAR
From what I can see this amp should be about 30 - 40 watts with a vintage 15 Jensen speaker. Closed back vented cabinet similar to some Ampeg and Kustom setups.   In fact from the picture of it with an open back it looks very similar to my old Ampeg Gemini IV.    I would expect it to sound pretty good in that jazzy, clean bluesy way of the older Ampegs.
