This little amp is eaither an early Harmony or Maybe a Sound Projects, Lectrolab or other Chicago era built 1950's tube amp. Probably a 50L6 output tube but could be a 6V6GT - hard to tell from the pic. What these little amps lack in volume they make up for in mojo.

ReplyDeleteYes, you may be right. Or it could even be a Dickerson - the California based Lap Steel company that eventually became Magnatone.
ReplyDeleteThat's my amp! I mean I bought it from the man that listed it on Craigslist. It came from the back of a closet in an old house trailer. This fellow was cleaning out the trailer for a friend and this amp was found. What a break for me!
ReplyDeleteI took it to Specimen Amp and Guitar in Chicago for a new grounded plug and wire, and some other inner parts I know nothing of. I got the original parts back with the amp. It works like new, no hum and wonderful tone. Louder than one would think. It is now a real working unit used regularly in my professional music.
I am a professional musician. Harmonicas are my primary instruments. I use this amp for my "cross harp" blues and roots work. It is just what I have looked and looked for. I use a PA mike for my chromatic work.
It is a real kick to find MY AMP here. I was just surfing the net, listening to my fav jazz radio program (JAZZ WITH BOB PARLOCHA .com) and decided to look thru some vintage amp pictures from a well known image collection/search engine...and here's MY AMP! I can tell easily from some of the scuffs and the way the speaker sits.
I think this is a Harmony, or at least made in the same "jobber" factory in Chicago as Harmonys; the dial images are the same as Harmony uses on their branded amps though there is no brand anywhere on this piece.
Again, it is a real kick to find MY AMP here. Thanks for this, its a thrill for sure...
