1956 Fender Strat - 100% Original - In Socal for $28K

I know what you are thinking - has Jim lost his mind? What happened to the $200 vintage guitars. Calm down. This is a bargain hunters blog and the fact is if this is exactly as the seller says then it is a bargain. Average market price for an all original 1956 Strat w/ OHSC right now is about $38K. So this one is almost $10K below market value. Just in case you wanted to add a nice vintage guitar to your 401K retirement plan (hehe).

About a week ago I went to the Vintage Room at GC in Sherman Oaks CA and played an original 1956 Strat just like this one - soft V maple neck, two tone Sunburst, all original hardware and pickups - and it was Da Bomb! The frets on that one were almost totally gone and the Maple board, neck and body had serious roadwear to the point of looking like a major relic - and they wanted $40K for it. After playing that one for 10 minutes I was almost tempted to buy it. This one looks much nicer for over 25% less.

BTW - A 1956 Stratocaster like this is a lot more stable and sexier than Google stock at $700 a share.
