1960's Ibanez/Guyatone early solid body electric in Portland MN for $140

This seller is offering an early 1960's MIJ electric that is probably an Ibanez or Guyatone. The overall shape and style of this guitar is very similar to Ibanez's own Talman model that they released many years later. This is pre "copy era" when Japan was still trying to come up with their own cool and unique guitar designs.

Vintage short scale Teisco/Guyatone copy of a 1959 GT-70 and probabloy made in the early 1960s. The GT-70 Star was the design basis for the some of the early Ibanez electric guitars.

It has new strings and has been set up. Action is good. Has a rosewood bridge. Volume and tone knobs are chrome replacement knobs. The metal stamped pickgaurds may have been touched-up and had some dents addressed but not fully removed. The pickups are Guyatone or Teisco pickups from the period and are not native to the guitar but are perhaps Teisco's copying of the Kay "speedbump" pickup look to some degree.

The guitar was refinished at one point, but only on the top coat. Some dings in the neck. Very few body imperfections. Pickup selector rocker switches work to select each pickup and then both together. I am unclear when the third rocker switch does. I think that it turns off all sound. Very power-garage sounding.
