I'd always wondered about this lyric and this video clearly shows that Hendrix got a kick out of mixing it up live - in this BBC version (which is an amazing performance) Jimi clearly says "'scuse me while I kiss this guy" and points at either Noel Redding or Mitch Mitchell while laughing.
