Gibson 1960's LG-3 in Des Moines IA for $400

This seller is offering what appears to be a 1965 Gibson LG-3.  The serial number puts the date at 1965.  The Natural finish instead of the usual Sunburst would make this an LG-3 vs. the more common LG-2.  This guitar should be X-braced and certainly looks like it was well loved and hevily played.  Otherwise it appears to be all original.

1962 Epiphone Olympic Double in Omaha NE for $999

This seller is offering a 1962 or 1963 Epiphone Olympic Double - the more desirable two pickup[ version of this guitar.  These are pretty darn good sounding and playing rock and roll guitars. These are a lot better instruments than they appear at first glance - this is definitely not a Melody Maker.

The $999 price is pretty decent for this guitar - although it does have replacement tuners which is sort of a drag.  Make sure there are no neck break repairs at any point - these often have repaired neck breaks in the used market since they were not always well cared for by the original owners.    - Jim C

Nice guitar that sounds and plays well. I set the action and put this guitar in great playing condition. It is Red with nice thin fingerboard. Very fast player!!! This is a 1962 or 1963. The serial number is 242073. Everything works and this guitar plays very well. Nice sound. Blast from the past. May also sell an old Sure 55SW mike.

Alden branded Harmony H47 Stratotone in Chattanooga TN for $180

Here is a nice find - a 1950's or early 1960's Harmony Stratone that was sold through the Alden Department stores.  The devilish headstock logo on these is often misrepresented as being an "Airline" but it was the logo used by "Alden" stores.  These flat "Hershey bar" pickups are one of my favorite vintage pickups ever. This should be a great bare bones vintage guitar. Don't expect the necks on these old Chicgo made electrics to be smooth or fast playing - and the frets are tiny - but that is all part of the charm. - JC

Vintage Micro-Frets Guitar for sale in Cleveland Area for $700

Micro-Frets guitar?  You might be asking - huh?  What's that?

These rare birds are unusual and highly prized by some collectors.  I first encountered them when I went to the Eric Clapton Guitar Auction on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood about 6 years ago when he was selling off some of his personal collection to raise money for a school he sponsors in Jamaica. Clapton had 2 of these Micro-Frets guitars in his personal collection.  Slowhand knows guitars.

This one is missing the original hand wound P-90 style pickups but it does have all the other cool details including the original Vibrato arm and the white plastic plate behind the bridge which are often lost. These guitars were built by Ralph Jones in Frederick MD from 1967 into the 1970's.  I've heard there were a total of 4000 guitars built during that period.

Keep in mind that you can't have a complete collection of great USA vintage guitars without at leat one Micro-Frets. hehe.  - JC

Previous owner did replace the original nut, pickups, and tuners.
Still such a great guitar for a much cheaper price than an all original model..
I was told the humbuckers are from an even older Gretsch model but don't hold me to that.

I had it set up recently by one of the best vintage guitar experts in Michigan. Intonation is perfect, action is perfect, electronics are perfect. Plays and sounds better than any guitar in my collection I just don't have the heart to risk making my gig guitar. It deserves more use!
Most if not all blemishes are pictured above. It's almost 60 years old. Not bad!
