Nice Trashy MIJ Garage Blues guitar in Bay area for $150 -

The seller lists this as a Teisco but I don't think it is an actual Teisco Del Rey - but one of the many similar Jaanese made guitars.  Amazingly you can almost guarantee that this is a solid mahogany guitar - and I mean one solid piece not a laminate - since I've owned a few and they usually are.   It may be a short scale (24 inch) since it is only a 19 fret guitar - or it may be a standard - hard to tell from the pic.  But there is a good chance those pickups probably sound pretty good - nice and raunchy - worth a shot.

Up for sale today is a 60's Teisco Electric guitar with original foil pickups. This vintage guitar is in great considering it's age!! The edge and the headstock show wear but the finish is very glossy and has no checking. All the electronics work perfectly no scratchy pots and the "mic" selector switch work great. This guitar has a great sound great for blues, rock, indie, and country. Currently I have it set up as a slide guitar to play dirty blues with and it nails that delta blues tone. If slide is not your thing let me know and I can setup up to your standards and style. Don't pass up this chance to own a piece of history at a fraction of the price of most vintage guitars. I have set the price at $150.00 but feel free to make an offer. If you have any question please feel free to email me.

Victoria Vintage 1960's Japanese bedroom tube amp in Tacoma for $80

How cool is this lil' MIJ Victoria amp?!  Don't expect much beyond the most basic amplification (probably a single ended amp with 50C3 style radio tubes similar to an old tube record player).  I believe these were imported and sold by RCA in 1968-69 along with the Zen-On guitars from what would come to be known as the Guyatone factory.

Not to be confused with a Mrshall stack LOL!

Two Acoustics - Ibanez and Takamine - for $50 in Inland Empire CA

This seller is offering both these guitars for $50.  I contacted them over the weekend and the guitars are still available today - Monday Nov. 15th.  The Ibanez looks like the basic intro student model that sells for $99 new but the Takamine should be a nice guitar - the bottom of the line Takamine goes for $250 and they go up from there so if you bought both and sold the Ibanez for $50 to someone else you'd have a nice Takamine acoustic for free.  Good Luck.

This listing went up today and it was GONE within a couple of hours - but it's just the sort of thing we all look out for so I wanted to list it here. This seller "Andy" listed his "Vintage Fender Concert Amp with Marshall 2x12 Speakers" for $150. Of course if you look carefullly you'll notice it is a Brownface - Wow!  What a nice find for the buyer at that price.

It does happen.

I called Andy and he said:  "Oh yeah, that sold right away."  Gee, I wonder why?

Django Reinhardt plays Electric Guitar w/ Duke Ellington

Another slightly unusual post but I couldn't resist:

I've always respected Django Reinhardt as an influential guitarist but mostly for the quaint "Gypsy Style" acoustic Jazz on his pre-war recordings with Stefan Grapelli and The Hot Club Quartet. This recording changed my mind completely - he is a Guitar Monster period!

Apparently Duke Ellington met Django in Paris during the war and invited him to the USA to tour with his big band and when Django showed up without a guitar a friend took him to the Epiphone factory in New York City where he picked up this 1945 Epiphone Regent electric and an Electar amp.

The results speak for themselves.

This is avery cool looking Stella by Harmony.  Probably from the 1960's.  Lovely solid wood construction - top looks like one solid piece of Spruce or Birch.  This is not a common guitar - at least not anymore.  Beautiful pics on this listing by the way. - JC
