Early 1960's Teisco E-200 in Alexandria VA for $200

This seller is offering up an early Teisco E-200 that has some of my favorite features. You see the single pickup E-100 versions of this guitar pop up every once in a while but the 2 pickup version like this one is fairly rare. These early Japanese single coil pickups usually sound very good and this version has one of the side marker bound necks that are also not very common. The round neckplate on the rear indicates it is one of the early set neck guitars Teisco made that also are bolted on - sort of a "belt and suspenders" mentality of the overly cautious Japanese manufacturer, Lol! Some previous owner has addressed the common rocker switch dilemma of these models by making a new pickguard and adding two throw switches, perhaps with some not so clear wiring which apparently befuddles the current owner. You gotta love these old catalog and retail store guitars that were cheap and readily available as a Timex watch back in the day. This one must have been repainted at some point and I can't even tell what the color is. If I owned this myself I would strip the body down and refinish it in a super bright red or blue heavy sparkle finish to make it into the little sci-fi slide guitar noizemaker it was born to be. But that is just me. Go check this one out if you are local to the Alexandria VA area or you can get there on your day off. Be sure to bring a fuzzbox! - Jim C Follow this link to the original listing on Craigslist in VA. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/msg/d/alexandria-vintage-japanese-guitar/7873885197.html Original CL Posting is below:
This is a small awesome little guitar. Both pickups work. Incredibly light. Strangely it has two output jacks. Neck has a bit of relief and appears to be non-adjustable but is still very fun to play. Interesting neck join. I believe this to be an early Teisco due to similarities (pickups, fret markers, headstock shape) to this one: https://reverb.com/item/55035717-teisco-e-100-60-s-tobacco-sunburst but I have yet to find another with this particular neck join No idea what's going on with the electronics. The top knobs are volumes for the pickups and both work great. Microswitch seems to do something but I'm not sure what. One jack works for sure not sure about the other. Lower two knobs (tone) spin with no stops and questionable functionality. Large toggle may or may not switch between the pickups. IOW...with big toggle in the forward position both pickups are on and controlled by the volume knobs but everything else is a mystery to me. Shockingly loud with a great tone unplugged...
