This is an early 1960s Silvertone model 1420L Stratotone dual-pickup electric guitar, made in USA by
Harmony of Chicago, Illinois. The lightweight hollow body is a single-cutaway style
similar to a Les Paul model, and is completely bound with ivory-white binding. Neck is straight with 20 clean,
undamaged frets, and has dot inlays in the fretboard. Headstock has all original
fully functioning open-gear tuners, and the white Silvertone script is still very clear. Playing
action is low and easy with an adjustable bridge in place. The two pickups are single-coil type,
providing authentic 1950s sound, each with its own set of tone and volume controls. A
sliding three-position selector switch offers the player the options of using the more
treble-sounding neck pickup, the deeper-sounding bridge pickup, or both together for the
loudest, and most twangy sounds. Pickup plates, string pegs on tuners, and tailpiece are
chrome. This particular model instrument was featured in the 1961 Sears catalog.
The guitar's tuxedo style shows in the white pickguard surrounded by, and in contrast with, the
larger area of black body finish, and also contrasting with the black control knobs and
switch tip, making it visually similar to a man's formal black-tie tuxedo suit.
This guitar is in excellent original condition which is exceptional, considering it is now more
than 50 years old. There are very few nicks and only superficial scratches or edge wear from
having been played. Everything on this instrument is very clean and in fully working condition,
and is priced at just a fraction of what is comparable elsewhere. Original hard case included.
Now only $499 cash or best reasonable offer, serious offers only.

ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't happen to have a spare neck pickup ?? I have this guitar in sunburst but the neck pickup is dead.
