1965 Guild Starfire (Player Grade) in San Francisco for $750

This seller is offering one of my favorite guitars for less than half it's market value IF it were in 100% original condition.  Still if you are in the San Francisco area this one is definitely worth taking a look.  Starfire IV's are Semi Hollow" meaning there is a center block similar to an ES-335 - however due to the design they are not as heavy as a 335 so they have a brighter overall tone.

Things to note about this particular guitar from the photos:

- The stock "pinned bridge" has been replaced with a Gibson style Tunematic bridge - which means they must have installed mounting posts and ferrules which is a major modification.

- Tuning machines have been replaced.

- Pickguard is missing.

- Finish is moderate to rough and yes this guitar suffers from the dreaded "headstock clouding" that plagues some vintage 1960's era Guilds.

The good news - it has the ORIGINAL GUILD HB-1 HUMBUCKERS!  Yippee!  So if the action and intonation on this guitar are solid then she should be a player with that unique Starfire IV look, feel and tone.  And they also have the original GUILD CASE (wow!).  If this guitar was in perfect all original condition it could sell for well over $2K so if you can live with the changes you may love it.

Really Vintage, 54 years old. Plays and the action is good, comes with original case but missing the pick guard which accounts for the screw holes in the body. Shows signs of wear. Look at the pictures for a better idea. The serial number is EL-1624
