1966 Framus 5/155 Strato Electric in Albuquerque NM for $500

Framus was a respectiable guitar maker in the 1950's and 1960's and these guitars were built by German Craftsmen who took pride in their work. I'm not going to act like these are world class guitars but they are right up there with Harmony and other budget USA made guitars at the time. A step higher than the Italian electrics of the same period and definitely more solid build overall than most of the Japanese guitars of the same time. Framus electrics have thin necks that make them great for players with smaller hands (or anyone who likes a thin neck). They are known for their specific laminated multilayered necks that do not warp or bow over time. The pickups are low to medium output so they usually give a nice clean sound and you can drive them with a pedal jif you want to push an amp. I chose to highlight this CL post because this particular guitar is being sold by a luthier in Albuquerque who took the time to get this guitar in good current playing condition. Don't worry about things like replaced switches aand Tone knobs because that is really an upgrade on a guitar like this and this will never be a "collectors item" where buyers will grimace at a mismatched tone pot, LOL! $500 is not cheap but it's not a bad price either. This would be a fairly unique guitar for an Indie player or someone who just doesn't want to have the same guitar as everyone else. This post went up on CL in mid January 2025. If you are in the are this is a neat guitar to check out. Here is the listing. *********************
Vintage Framus Guitar - $500 (Albuquerque)
Up for sale is a 1966 Framus, made in Germany. This is a cool offbeat guitar to add to your collection! It plays well, sounds like a fat tele, and has loads of vibe. Comes with the original case and whammy bar. It is all original, except for a few updates to the electronics. I recently did a head to toe restoration on it (I'm a local pedal builder and have worked on guitars for 10+ years). This thing is built WAY better than the Teiscos of this era that I've worked on. Nuts and bolts restoration included: - polishing guitar and neck - polishing all metal parts - lubricated tuners - replaced toggle switches (old ones were bad)- cleaned pots - replaced capacitors - updated tone controls (they didn't really do much and worked backwards before) - new strings and complete set up Come by and check it out!

Silertone 1484 2x12 tube head nd Cabinet in Napa CA for $500

This would be a great amp to pair with that Silvertone Silhouette and have an awesome all original Vintage setup for $1000 total. I used to own one of these and they are a blast - and they do get loud. Just don't expect to lug it and toss it around carelessly at every crappy bar and club and expect the cabinet to hold up perfectly. That said I've seen plenty of alternative / Indie bands with these amps on stage and they rock the house. SILVERTONE 1484 - $500 (Napa County) It all works fine. The 2 12" speaker cabinet totally rips from every amp I've ever tried them on.

Yamaha SGV-800 in Los Angeles area for $300

This seller is offering one of the Yamaha SGV Reissue guitars that are prized by Surf players for their cool retro shape and nice clean Surf tones.  You don't see these for sale very often because few USA dealers carry the entire line of Yamaha electric guitars.  This one is in the cool "blue sparkle" which looks nice.

Yamaha has made several knockoffs and lower end versions of this guitar shape - the SGV-800 is one of the nicer ones - it has P-90 style pickups, a high quality Vibrato and locking tuners.

1974 Gibson J-40 Acoustic at GC in Webster TX for $599

Spotted this Gibson J-40 Acoustic at the Guitar Center in Webster TX for only $599.    Collectors don't love the 1970's CMI/Norlin era Gibson's but that doesn't mean this can't be a terrific guitar for somebody out there - especially if it's been well cared for over the past 40 years.  Worth taking a look for sure.

This one looks really nice though I doubt it's anywhere near as old as the seller thinks it is. More likely from the Early 60's. But still a nice loking setneck archtop.

Supro 1606 Tube amp - like Champ - in Toronto for $200

This one will be gone fast. These Supro 1606 amps are very popular. Sounds like this guy is a Keyboard player and wants to trade it for Keyboard gear or else sell t for "a couple hundred."

Gibson SG Special w HSC in Anaheim CA for $500

Okay so it's not a "Vintage" guitar - but this is a good deal on the new Gibson SG Special - and this one comes with a HSC too. Personally, I like the SG Specials better than the standard models because the necks are lighter and don't tend to dive (as much).

WELCOME FELLOW CRAIGSLIST GEAR ADDICTS

My name is Jim Christopher and I am a guitarist-songwriter and vintage guitar and amp collector living in Encino, CA. I started this blog as a way to record and hopefully share the exciting vintage guitar and amp treasures popping up on Craigslist all over the United States.

I will be posting as often as I find interesting items and great deals - and hopefully you will be able to score some of these guitars by moving fast and contacting the buyers before they get snapped up. I wish you all the luck since I can't be all over the country at any given time and most often CL sellers are not looking to box up and ship these vintage items but just want to get rid of them to the first local buyer. In general I will not be posting direct links because from what I have seen CL seems to frown on this - but I will be copying photos and posting whatever contact info is available. The rest is up to you.

My collector taste tends to run to the "off-brand" and "weirdo vintage" guitars and amps like Harmony, Kay, Airline, Teisco, Supro, etc (because I am too cheap to spend thousands) - but I will also be noting any particularly good deals on vintage Fender, Gibson, Martin, Marshall, Ampeg, etc guitars and amps. I will also note any particularly good deal s on Pedals and vintage guitar effects. I have about a dozen guitars and about ten tube amps at home right now - probably half of those were purchased from Craigslist. I am always on the lookout for unique guitar related items and appreciate any input or feedback you may want to have to this blog.

If you want to be kept informed, please be sure to subscribe to this blog. That way we can communicate if there is anything time critical and you are chasing a good deal in your local area.

Since I live in Los Angeles, I can only purchase local items directly - but in a perfect world we'd all be able to help one another score those precious vintage guitars and amps we so justifiably seek to attain. I'll do my part - good luck to us all in the hunt.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL READERS

I am reposting items here that are listed on CRAIGSLIST throughout the USA. I am not selling any of these items and I cannot facilitate the sale of anything here - so please do not comment or post questions like "Is this still available?" or "I am interested in your guitar please call me, etc." You need to contact the seller directly by calling the phone number listed on the post or by going to the CL listing and emailing them. NEW FEATURE: Click on the title of the CL Listing inside my post to LINK thru to the original Post. If the original CL listing is deleted the item most likely is no longer available. Thanks for checking out my blog and GOOD LUCK!

Please don't call, contact, bother or harass these sellers long after their post is expired. Take for granted if the listing is over 30 days old that the guitar or amp is LONG GONE! Thank you.
