Silvertone Silhouette - $500 - Alameda CA
Looks like I spoke to soon - here is another Silhouette aka 1478 this time in Alameda CA and for $500. Thuis one appears to be 100% original with the wooden bridge and open tuners and it is in pretty darn good shape. Back in the day this would have turned up at "Fat Dawg's" in the Bay area. Collectors take note.
Great old harmony built 1478 with original dearmond Rowe silver foil/ gold foil pickups and electronics. Plays and sounds great. Includes gig bag.

Silvertone Silhouette Vintage 60's - In San Diego CA - $400
These Silvertone Silhouettes (aka Harmony Bobcat aka 1478) don't usually turn up for this cheap and this one may already be sold but I had to highlight it based on the feature set and good overall condition for the price. Fans of Annie Clark aka St. Vincent know these guitars can sound awesome and though this one is not all original it does have what many would consider the two upgrades tht make it more managemeble for live performance i.e. upgraded Kluson vintage style tuners and a tuneamatic bridge to replace the wooden one.
I prefer these 2 pickup 1478 versions to the 3 pickup 1488 model Annie plays because hers has the dreaded "rocker switches" that are easy to acccidentally knock while playing. I much prefer the basic 3 way switch on this two pickup model. This one does have a significant "boo boo" on its base but some might say that adds to the vintage charm.
This seller's Kalamazoo KG-2 is most likely a refin since I don't think black was one of the factory colors on these - I've seen red, white and blue, just like the early Fender Mustangs, but that said, he is correct - his price is very good considering it is otherwise all original including the factory tailpiece etc. Nice deal if you are looking for something like this. - JC
This is a nice vintage instrument in great shape considering the age.
It was made as an offshoot of Gibson in the same USA factory alongside
SGs and Les Pauls of the era. It is essentially a Melody Maker as far as
electronics and hardware are concerned, with two very clear and warm
single coils and a Vibrola tailpiece. Just set up and plays well!
$299. FANTASTIC PRICE FOR THIS PIECE! This is a steal! You absolutely
cannot find an intact, highly playable 60's vintage guitar made in the
USA for anywhere near this price!

It is up to you whether you think this is a good deal or not but the Greco Semi-hollow and the Supro Lap steel are probably worth the $500 asking price - and Checkmate (Teisco) folk style acoustics are fairly rare to find these days (though it still ain't worth much). The Crestwood and the Drifter just basic 70's imports.
He says he doesn't ant to separate them but you never know. If you could score just the Supro Lap and the Greco electric for $300 total that would be a heck of a deal.

I am reposting items here that are listed on CRAIGSLIST throughout the USA. I am not selling any of these items and I cannot facilitate the sale of anything here - so please do not comment or post questions like "Is this still available?" or "I am interested in your guitar please call me, etc." You need to contact the seller directly by calling the phone number listed on the post or by going to the CL listing and emailing them. NEW FEATURE: Click on the title of the CL Listing inside my post to LINK thru to the original Post. If the original CL listing is deleted the item most likely is no longer available. Please don't call, contact, bother or harass these sellers long after their post is expired. Take for granted if the listing is over 30 days old that the guitar or amp is LONG GONE! Thank you.
