1974 Tele Deluxe in Pittsburgh for $2K

This seller in Pittsburgh is offering this Tele Deluxe for only $2K which is a nice deal since market on these is over $3K in recent years.  These are associated with Keith Richards but of course Keith has played LOTS of different guitars over the years including every type of Tele there is.  His most well known Tele that he has played on stage for 25 years is actually a 1953 Telecaster with a Gibson PAF at the neck - it is not a Tele Custom as many people assume.

The seller is playing at a bar in Pirttsburgh tonight so you can go check it out there and decide for yourself.

Fender Telecaster Deluxe 1974 w/ original case - $2000 ( Carson St. Downtown(see note))

Mocha Brown 1974 Fender Telecaster Deluxe. Original period Fender case and rare original period Fender leather shoulder strap included.

This is not a re-issue. It is a well worn original which has typical dings, minor buckle rash & the familiar Fender finish glaze cracks through the aged clearcoat/laquer. It looks exactly like those Roadworn Relic Fenders from the Fender Custom Shop. I have owned this guitar since 1976. Serial# 562356

In 1980, after owning & playing the Tele for 6 years, it became hard to keep in tune, etc. so I brought it to a local music store & they sent it to Virgil Lay in Youngstown. Oh. for setup. They intonated, set the action, crowned the frets & changed the nut. I still have the original bill/invoice from it.

In 1982 I bought a used DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker & installed it in the bridge(I needed more crunch & was limited by my amp). The Dimarzio gave me the needed crunch but I sacrificed tone for it. It worked for me.

Around 1992 I bought a H/S/S Strat w/ locking tremelo & stopped using the Tele. That guitar did the job of both for me. I took the DiMarzio humbucker out of the Tele & installed it in the new Strat, & put the original Seth Lover humbucker back in the Tele in 1992 & retired the Tele.

So the only things done were removing the original bridge pickup, then reinstalling it years later, & having a setup done in 1980, which resulted in them replacing the nut & crowning the frets. The only other thing is when I dug out the original humbucker to re-install it, I misplaced the screws, so the pickup mounting screws are also not original. Other than that, it is a fairly well-worn original.

Comfortable llightweight, low-action 35+ year old USED, playable & collectible Fender in used collectible & playable condition....no surprises.

$2000. local pickup/cash only

MAY trade for a same color '72 Telecaster Deluxe reissue + cash. MAY also trade for these specific Baritones: a MIJ Fender Jaguar Baritone Custom(Custom...NOT Special) + cash, a Schecter Hellcat VI Baritone + cash, or an Agile Argus Baritone + cash. All of these baritone guitars generally have a 30" scale & E-E tuning.

*I am looking to sell outright, or trade for a very different specific vintage tone & feel. I am only interested in the above 3 specific 6-string baritone guitars for possible trade. I am not interested in any other Fender, Gibson, guitar, bass, baritone, amplifier, etc *

**I WILL BE PLAYING AT EXCUSES BAR & GRILL 2526 E. CARSON ST. DOWNTOWN ON SAT. OCT 27 FROM 10-2. I WILL HAVE THIS GUITAR WITH ME & WILL PLAY A FEW SONGS WITH IT. COME & CHECK IT OUT IF INTERESTED.

1960's Eko Semi Hollow electric in Studio City CA for $325

This seller is offering a nice looking Eko from sometime in the mid 60's. This semi hollow (without F-holes) seems to be a copy of the Hofner Club 40 or something similar.  Not as fancy as the Hofner but still looks nice.

Kay Mini-Jumbo in Sacramento CA asrea for $100

Rare 1950's PARAMOUNT Electric on eBay

This seller is offering a rare bird.  A PARAMOUNT brand guitar that appears to be have been made by harmony, Kay or Regal.   Unusual combination of features the strangest of which is the 16-fret to the body neck.  I have seen many 12, 14 and 15 fret to the body guitars but this is the first hollow body I can recall with 16.  The body shape resembles a Kay Swingmaster while the hardware is decidedly Harmony Chicago.  Those pickups are something new to me - overall some very unique features here.

Not to send any collectors into undue conniptions but that case strikes a resemblance to a 1950's Gibson Les Paul Junior case - it would be the first time I've ever seen a Harmony made case with fur lining from this period.

Anyone who knows more about this particular model feel free to chime in.  As far as i know PARAMOUNT was a banjo company - part of the 1930's Golden Era - who like Deering experimented with the occasional guitar but mostly through outsourced manufacture. - JC

VINTAGE 50's 60's PARAMOUNT HARMONY MAR*TIN DeARMOND ARCHTOP GUITAR nice!

This guitar is well over 50 years old. Is this a Harmony? Not sure. Martin made Paramount guitars early on. It has been sitting unused for more then 25 years. Selling just the way I found it. Neck is straight (action low). Made in USA in the 50's I think. Very little in the way of scuffs & scratches.  Electronics working well. Knobs & pick ups (DeArmond?) working. This guitar can use new strings and a good cleaning.  A Fabulous find. I real pleasure to play. Big warm sound out of these pick ups. No issues, still selling "as is".  Sold as found. Looks like the pickguard, screw on pickup & strap button are missing. What looks like the original case (poor shape. top detached). Will pack well with 3 layers of thick bubble wrap.

Otis Rush - "I Can't Quit You Baby." - This is What It's All About!

I keep stumbling upon these incredible gems on Youtube. Check out this vintage clip of Otis Rush in fine form.  There are so many things to enjoy about this performance I don't know where to begin.

I was initially baffled as to what model guitar he was playing then I noticed the frequensator tailpiece and realized it is an Epiphone Riviera (w/ mini-humbuckers) that has had the headstock trimmed down a bit.

I am continually impressed by these early players who overcame the lack of left-handed guitar models by learning to play the instrument upside down!

Okay, I have never seen this model Harmony amp before in my life - and check it out!  Clearly this was designed as a bass amp but four 8's???  Really?  This thing must sound Killer for Harp.  It's got a GZ34 rectifier tube for gawdsakes!   those Eminence 8 inch speakers look pretty heavy duty - not what I'd usually expect in an amp like this.  Please somebody go check this out and report back to us on it as far as tone.

Peavey Classic 30 tube amp in Covina for $280

This seller is offering a Peavey Tweed Classic 30 for the reasonable price of only $280.

These are nice small amps that have all the basics without any additional nonsense. Two channels.  four EL84 output tubes - similar to an AC30 but tone leans more towards an American amp like a Fender Tweed.

Great for gutsy blues and rock and roll - though not a super loud amp.  And don't expect anything close to the crystal cleans you can get from a Fender Twin or even a Super.  Great for the home, studio and small gigs.   Note that this is the older model before they added the tube guard.
