Custom Kraft 900 aka Supro Trojan tube amp in Wichita falls TX for $200

Okay - here is a very interesting find - this seller is offering up a Custom Kraft tube combo for $200.  This little monster is pretty much a Supro Trojan with a different distributors label.  Compare pics of this Custom Kraft amp with a model Supro S6616 Trojan from about 1965 or 1966 and you'll see it is the same amp.  - JC

Vintage Custom Kraft tube combo (VALCO/Magna) - $200 (Wichita Falls)

Custom Kraft Model 900 tube combo amp from the 60's in good shape given it's age. Everything on this amp works like when it was new. No issues. It has 2 high inputs, one low input, volume, tone, tremolo speed & intensity. I do not have the footswitch for it that turned the tremolo on & off. Tube setup is 1 12AX7 for preamp, 1 12AX7 for the tremolo, 1 6V6GT and 1 5Y3GT for power tubes. Very low wattage amp. The back was removed at some point, making it an open back combo & I don't have the back for it. Custom Kraft was made by Valco and Magnatone back in the 60's, so I'm not sure which one this is. Price is $200 cash or I'll trade for guitar gear of equivalent value. Call or text Jerry at 940-***-****

1960's Crest (aka Ibanez) in Monterey bay CA for $100

Check out this neat little Crest branded electric.  This would most likely be a Guyatone or early Ibanez model based on the pickups and hardware.  This one is in very nice shape considering how long its been around.  Look at the size of those single coil pickups..Wow!

1966 Fender Mustang in Fresno CA for $550

This seller is offering an original 1966 fender Mustang for $550.  The guitar has been refinished in a sort of misty Blue - hard to tell from the photo - but not identical to the original Fender Blue.  Still not bad.  Otherwise looks to be all original.  His price is about half that of a perfect guitar without the refin so it is not a bad deal.

Beautiful long unheard Nicky Hopkins Piano on "Following the River"

I've been sort of on an "Exile on Mainstreet" binge the last few days since I saw the incredible documentary "The Stones in Exile." It rekindled my hysterical adoration of everything the Stones accomplished during that insane period in their career. If you haven't seen this film and you have Netflix I highly recommend it - it is an instant view flic at the present time.

Anyway I stumbled onto this long unreleased Soul Ballad that the Stones finally put out in 2010 called "Following the River" and it includes some gorgeous Nicky Hopkins piano. For those of you who may not realize it, Nicky Hopkins was the greatest rock and roll piano player ever! Not only for his chops - which were gorgeous - but for his ability to inspire the other musicians around him to listen and to find the deep soulful groove in whatever song they were creating.

If you are just hearing his name for the first time here is a brief (though not complete) list of some of his piano work. I don't know if many people are aware that it was the same piano player performing on the Beatles' "Hey Jude," The Stone's "Angie" and Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful."

Some of his credits:

The Beatles The Beatles - Revolution - Hey Jude -
The Rolling Stones - Loving Cup - Angie - 2000 Light years - She’s a Rainbow - Jumpin’ Jack Flash - Tumbling Dice - Waiting on a Friend - Sympathy for the Devil - Sway
The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon
Jeff Beck - Beck’s Bolero
Plastic Ono Band - Merry Christmas (War is Over) -
Ringo Star - Photograph
George Harrison - Give Me Love
Joe Cocker - You Are So Beautiful

Ventura V-6 Acoustic in Shreveport LA for $100

I guess I am posting mostly acoustics today. There seems to be quite a few interesting models on Craigslist. Here is a seller offering a Ventura acoustic from the late 1960's - early 1970's. Ventura is a brand to keep a watch for in acoustics because they are a well regarded Japanese vintage Brand. Many 12 string players swear by the Ventura V-12 and V-14 as being second only to a Taylor in projection and playability. They were a well-built brand at the time and were not "cheap" (the model range cost between $100 - $300 back in the 1970's) and they used quality aged woods like Honduran Mahogany and East Indian Rosewood. The bodies are often laminated (though not always) but that was not considered a big negative at the time (it is still somewhat a matter of debate) and they had excellent quality control which explains why so many of the guitars are still out there being played. A Ventura makes a very good "knock around" guitar because they are very sturdy but still have solid tone and good volume and projection. They can still occasionally be found at pawn Shops and thrift stores (though word is getting out). I always got a kick out of that "Designed in USA - Built in Japan" logo on the inside - since most of their "designs" were copies of USA made guitars like the Martin D-18 and Gibson Hummingbird. LOL. ************************************

Del rey Acoustic in Wichita KS for $75

You don't see many of these Del Rey brand acoustics - the electrics were much more common. This one is pretty wild with double pickguards and a crazy hyper curly woodgrain finish that could be a laminate of just about anything (Maple, Koa, Bubinga?). This is one cool looking vintage acoustic - and who knows, it might sound great? Maybe some big fan of Lana Del Rey, the latest "Chanteuse Du Jour" will pick this one up. ********************************

Silvertone Acoustic in Olathe KS for $70

This seller is offering one of the basic Silvertone 14 fret acoustic guitars form the 1960's. This one has the block lettering (not script) so I think that makes it a mid 1960's model. Simple basic full size acoustic guitar approaching 50 years of age (like many of us LOL). ********************************************

Harmony H-56 Rocket project avail in Kileeen TX

This seller is offering a double cut version of the Harmony H-56 Rocket that needs some work. The listing says he is looking for cash or a Bass Cabinet trade. Could be a nice deal for somebody - though this Rocket looks like it needs a tailpiece and some other work. If you look carefully you can detect a hole at the tail so this would need one of the Harmony chrome "Vibrato" tails from the lat 60's - not a standard trapeze unit (unless you don't mind leaving the hole). It also needs a bridge and knobs (possibly pots as well). Hopefully both the pickups still work. That is the real prize here. BTW - If you are considering buying this guitar here is a link to an eBay sale for the exact Tailpiece you will need and right now it is going for just $10 - so think fast?!!! Magnatone Update - All the Maggies for sale on CL this Month - enjoy!

Well i do this type of a search about once or twice a year and always enjoy what turns up so here is a unique look at a bunch of Magnatones available throughout the country. I won't list anything going for over $1K since those can also be purchased at Guitar Center or the local Vintage Amp shop.

1964-1966 Magnatone by Estey Model 401A tube practice/recording amp - XLNT condition! - Huntington Beach CA

Amp in great condition. Almost all original. Electrolytics were replaced and tubes were replaced with NOS tubes. 5 watts. Jensen Alnico speaker in good condition - One tiny pinhole, but I wouldn't recone it. Still sounds great, no buzz. Unique features are a neon pilot light, 20 Volt heaters and an input transformer. Tremolo is from heaven, best sounding I've heard. Makes for great recording amp or good for living room jams. Classic looks and vintage tone. Asking $225. Thanks for looking. May be open to trade, depending on what you got but prefer cash. Call Mike - 714.***-****

It has 2 channels, one for instruments, one for microphones, each with 2 inputs, preamp'd with a 12AX7 dual triode. Each channel has seperate volume controls, with a common tone control. Another 12AX7 dual triode is used for phase inversion driving twin 6V6 beam power tubes and the output transformer. High voltage DC is rectified by a 5Y3 tube. A 12-inch speaker mounted on a baffle, in a half open-back cabinet, makes this a great casual gig amp. Original list price in 1957 was $134.50.

9 5/8-inches deep.

1955 Magnatone Deluxe Melodier 109 Tube Amp (Vancouver-Salmon Creek - PORTLAND AREA)
Date: 2012-04-07, 8:34PM PDT
Reply to: [Errors when replying to ads?]

The Deluxe 109 was made by Magna Electronics Co. Inglewood, California. It has 1 microphone input and 2 instrument inputs. A 12AX7 is used for preamping these inputs. There is a seperate volume control for the microphone input and a master volume for all the inputs. A tone control adjusts the tone for all inputs. It's a push pull amp, (Magna Electronics' new Advanced Push-Pull Circuit) but the 12ax7 does not drive the phase inversion, the phase inverter comes off of the screen grid of the 6V6 power tube. This was uncommon back then, yet it allows the 12ax7 to provide the two gain stages needed for the preamp and splits the signal for the push pull output, does a nice job and saves another pre amp tube being used during the manufacturing process. HVdc rectification is handled by a 5Y3 rectifier. Output transformer has the #012 and power supply transformer has the #P50. A pilot lamp, fuse holder and on/off switch finish the control panel. It has two # 75L, 8-inch speakers (EIA code:395-502) indicating the 2nd week of 1955.

The cabinet is closed-back, has a 15 degree slanted speaker baffle and is covered in black Mother-of-Toiletseat. Dimensions: 12-1/4" High - 15-5/8" Wide - Top, 8-1/4" Deep - Bottom, 9" Deep. Weight: 18 lbs. Original list price in 1957 was $109.95
This amp has not had the 2 prong cord replaced but this should be done for safety.

You can see this exact amp online at Dub dub (yes I am selling this very amp)!

I have a (Highly Collectable/Rare) 1966 Magnatone MP-3 amp I would like to sell to the right person. Amp has been gigged in the past, Probably 7 out of 10 condition, but is fully serviced by the man: Dean Zink. Amp came without the Original Jensen C12PS's. it know has celestion G12V-80's in it at 16 ohms each in parallel for 8 ohms and biased out at 58 watts rms. It has 2 channels with 2 INPUTS per channel and Great Reverb and Awsome Vibrato, Not the copy Tremolo from Fender. Clean is Bright and chimmey with HUGE HEAD ROOM and dirt is like 70's rock, This is the amp you always wanted but never could afford because IT WAS MORE MONEY THAN THE TWIN at that time......Great amp in tone, and in performance, Made in America by: Americans

1966 Magnatone M15 Custom Tube Amp - $895 (Dunnellon) FLORIDA Ocala Area
Date: 2012-04-11, 11:46AM EDT
Reply to: [Errors when replying to ads?]

I have this 1966 Magnatone M15 tube amp for sale or trade. It is a killer amp. It has 2 separate input channels, (each with high or low gain), plus a Stereo input. 3 12AX7/7025 preamp tubes for the treble, bass, loudness and contour controls. This amp uses 3 of the 12DW7/7247 split mu tubes. The hi mu sides are used for phase inversion and a low freg. oscillator. The medium mu sides are used in the 1st vibrato shift and the 2 shift recoveries. A 12AU7 drives the 2nd vibrato shift. Another 12AU7 to amplify the low freq. oscillator. The Reverb input comes from the secondary side of one output transformer# T2 20-0155. Another 12AX7/7025 tube recovers the reverb. This model M15-A also has an "Echo" control that I am told sounds like it gates the reverb using an LDR circuit on the reverb output. This M15A reverb circuit is different from the M-15 and the "Dual Imperial" models, which use a tube driven reverb circuits. The M15 has a tube recovery, and the "Dual Imperial" uses a transistor returns. Four 7189A power tubes into stereo output transformers, into 2 12", 16ohm, Jensen model C12P speakers. Needs some of the pots cleaned up but it works and sounds great. asking $895.00 and also open too trades. If interested drop me a line or call me 352-***-**** Thanks!
