Harmony, Kay and Orpheum Guitars - all three for $450 in Seattle WA

Okay so one is a banjo but it still might be a good deal, just  depends on your particular taste - and I must say that lil' Orpheum look shweeeet.  The Harmony is a bit unusual seeing that it is white - and the seller seems to know and care about these instruments so that is a good sign.   Take a look if you are in the Seattle area. I doubt he will ship.

For sale:

A Orpheum small parlor guitar from the 30's. It is solid mahogany with cream trim. This guitar has great sound projection and has a straight neck. It has the normal wear of a 80 year old instrument.

Next is a Kay banjo from the 40's. it plays well and stays in tune. I dont know much about banjo's but its easy to play.

Third is a Harmony archtop with the DeArmond pick up. The pick up works but does not have the wire to plug it in. At the trading musician they can hardwire it for 40$ and it will sing. It is solid birch and made in the usa. It is the model h1214 and made in 1957.

Im making a deal of 450$ for all three as they have served me well but im moving and it cost alot to ship 10 guitars. One thing of note is if your an ass you will not get these guitars. All three are well loved and need to go to a good home where they will be respected.

thanks.

ps the 450 is firm.

70's Aria Diamond Full size Hollowbody Jazzbox in Charlotte for $350

The selelr seems right on target about this beautiful Aria Diamond 1362 G.  Don't confuse this with the Univox/Ventura branded Aria 335 copies with the bolt on necks.  This one looks more like a deep body ES-175 - expect it to be fully hollow with either a Spruce or Walnut top - and it appears to be a finely crafted instrument. These are quite rare on the second-hand market which means they either didn't import very many or players have been hanging on to them - or possibly both.

Rare Vintage Aria Diamond Jazz Box from the Late 60's-Early 70's. Label inside guitar reads Aria Diamond Model # H-F 1362G. Not many of these floating around on the Internet. Guitar plays and sounds great. All original. Some minor scratches, but for it's age, it looks amazing. Also included is a brown leather hardshell case. Great guitar for a collector or a gigging musician.

National Electric Lap Steel in Silverlake (Los Angeles) for $225

These Nationals (i.e. Valco) are great players if you don't mind a lappie guitar that shows its age and is a bit beat up (I don't think Jack White would complain LOL).    There are alot of vintage and Indie rock players in the Silverlake area so this will likely be grabbed up fast.

Amazing old National Lap Steel slide guitar. Most likely from the 40s or 50s. Electromuse Eye Beam Pickup. Shows signs of its age (nicks, pitting and a little rust on the tuning machines) but plays and sounds great.

Oahu vintage acoustic slide guitar in San Diego for $150

Hard to know how old a guitar like this really is - they made them for many years - it is most likely a square neck but could be round.  Very cool if you love vintage wood and the feel of ancient Mojo in your hands.

This one has the coveted "pyramid ends" on the bridge - and of course it is a sweet lil slothead.

Vintage Hoyer 12 String Acoustic Guitar in Beaverton OR for $300

Wow!  Look at this Hoyer 12 string!  These are beautiful guitars. If you are not familiar with Hoyer they are one of the fine German Acoustic guitar makers from the 1950's  and 1960's.  They made beautiful sought after Jazz guitars that were very popular with pro players in Europe.  I believe that the Hoyer and Hofner factories were right down the street from each other in the same town in Germany.  A lovely instrument.

I have a beautiful Hoyer vintage 12 string Guitar. The guitar was made in Germany in the late 50's early 60's and is elegantly crafted and is in excellent condition. It still has the original hardware and feature subtle complexities that prove it to be one of the hire grade guitars of this Hoyer line. It features a solid spruce top that displays the finishing cracks common to guitars made in Europe at this time due to the resin based finish used then (not to be mistaken for cracks in the body, I have had it examined). NO separation at the neck joint OR warp in the neck and the intonation is still right on. The neck is of the three piece, three tone design which gives it a rich and well crafted look. It holds a tune very well well and has a rich tone. The frets show minimal wear, low action, and most importantly has a great sound that can only be produced by a well aged guitar. I have made a hobby of collecting guitars and have enjoyed each one. This beauty is and excellent addition to any collection.

The guitar is valued upwards at 700. I need the money for student loans and fast. $300 OBO.

1960's Framus Atlantic 335 type - Made in Germany - in Seattle for $275

This is n unusual find and for not a lot of money.  A Framus Atlantik - check it out.  If those are Bill Lawrence designed Pickups they must be from back when he still went by Willem Lorenz -and I'd expect that laminate neck to be pretty darn fast.  The German necks are usually nice and thin.  You don't see these guitars come along every day - not in decent shape at this price anyway.

Who said that only the Asians and Americans could make guitars in the 60's? This is a German made Framus, for a store chain in West Germany, crafted about 1966/67. it is an Alantik 6, with the rare open "F" hole. (Most were just painted on. Those crazy Germans....) Pickups were designed by Bill Lawerence, and have a tone between a P90, and a PAF. 22 fret rosewood board, on a multilaminate maple neck. Yes, you read right, Laminate. Same style neck that Teisco from Japan used in the 60's, and that Martin is using today.Bolted on with 4 screws, it's stable beyond belief! AND it has a tremelo!! A single volume and tone control with a 3 wy switch, and it's all ready to belt out those blues! Yes, it is over 40 years old, and has some bump and bruises. And it's red, like a good 335 copy should be.

Sorry, the case was lost to history decades ago.

NO trades Please. NO shipping, and please include a phone number with your reply.

1965 Kay Vanguard Triple in SF Bay area for $250

This seller is getting a little carried away saying these pickups are worth $150 each - but at $250 for the whole guitar you can't really go wrong if it is in good working and playing condition. He does say it needs a "truss rod adjustment" so that could be a red flag but from my experience these guitars are fairly easy to work on (the solid body ones at least).  I always liked the look of the teardrop fret markers on these Kays.

A vintage 1965 Kay Vanguard. Rare 3 DeArmond gold foil pickup model with working original selector switch. Plays well, but needs a truss rod adjustment. All original. Has some dings and scratches, but nothing too big and does not effect sound or playability.

You can google this model and see that they usually go for $700+. The pickups themselves go for $150 each.

My loss is your rockin' gain. No case with sale.

** I have taken $50 off the last listed price so the buyer can get the neck adjusted and all electronics cleaned. Got this price from Chris at Rocker Guitars in SF **

** Also just took another $50 off it as I am looking to sell it today **

1970's Silvertone Electric Bass in St. Louis area for $100

You don't see a heck of a lot of these Japanese Silvertone basses on the used market. That may be because there is little demand for them - or becuase not as many basses were sold as guitars (which is certainly true).  But I would expect this to be a cool little bass - visually it is a cross between a burns and a Jazz bass.  Good for players with smaller hands (ahem... ladies) or just someone looking for a cool little vintage bass for cheap.

Vintage Standel Solid State guitar amp head - only $50 in Raleigh NC

Standel made some of the best Solid State amps of their time - in good old El Monte, CA.  They took it very seriously and tried to make the best possible product that technology would allow at the time (late 1960's early 70's) .  These were pro quality amps.   They've sort of faded into obscurity over time but this one would make a nice vintage addition to your backline.

Vintage 1970 solid state guitar head made by Standel. Model MC II G. Works fine. Can't find much documentation on it. Has normal and tremolo channels with parametric EQ. Cool accent and gain buttons on each channel. Chet Atkins and a number of older country artist's loved these amps.

I saw the bass version of this head go for $280 not too long ago but again, can't find out much on this one.

This is one sweet looking Airline tube combo.  This Airline looks alot like a Dano Viscount (same series as the lil "Cadet.")  A pair of 6V6 output tubes and 12AX7's in the preamp.  This series is from the late 1950's.

This one looks very nice and it's been fully serviced so it should be a winner.  Check it out:

Fender Squier Japan '72 RI Strat in Grand Rapids, MI for $375

This guitar is an anomaly to me - looking at the pics I would say that it is a MIJ '72 RI in Vintage White - and the Serial Number on the 3 bolt neckplate seems to confirm this as being a 1994 or 1995.  But for some reason it has a Squier label on the headstock - not the usual Fender logo.  Strange - perhaps it is from the end of the run in 1995 and they wanted to sell it as a Squier instead of a Fender Japan - who knows. Either way these are nice guitars.  If all the other specs are correct then this should be an Ash body.  Check it out.

Note:  Closer inspection tells me the serial number on this guitar may actually be an SQ+5 which would make it a 1983-84 Fenderr Japan Strat.  Or in otherwords, this may not be a "72 RI" but an actual Late 70's early 80's Fender made with the same parts as it's American brethren - just as desireable (more?) as a JV or American Squier model.

This is not your typical Squire Strat. In the 80's Fender made Squires and Fenders in the same plant in Japan. It is not clear that there is any difference other than the decal. I'm happy to be corrected, but this is a great guitar with some growing colectible vintage vibe. It is nothing like the Made in China Squires you see today. This one has the oversize headstock, nice Fender tuners, the oblong heel plate with the tilt adjust. It is a maple neck model with the rosewood skunk stripe and rosewood freatboard. It has some dings and marks, but they are very minimal and add to the character. The Maple has mellowed nicely, and the Rosewood neck is deep and rich. Playwear and fretwear is very light. The color is white faded to ivory. the knobs have also faded nicely. Vintage without the big ticket It is fully functional.

Cash terms and local sales only. This is Craigslist, people. I don’t need job offers. I will not take a check from your Nigerian uncle. I don’t want to trade for your old Nintendo GameCube. However, if you are interested in the guitars, I’m happy to meet you!

Very Good Condition 1960's Silvertone Model 1481 Class A 5 Watt Tube Amp up for grabs. The Amp is powered by a 12AX7, 6V6GT, and 6X4 tube rectifier. Hand made and hand wired in the USA, most likely built by sub-contracted Dan-Electro.

The beauty of this amp is the simplicity of the design and quality and clarity of sound. It has been the envy of many over the years, I've had dozens of offers to sell it at various points over the years, and I'm only now doing so because guitar isn't that important to me anymore and I am moving more towards drums. When I took it to guitar center for inspection/appraissal, they immediately moved to purchase it from me.

The amplifier is in great working condition, with its input jacks, tone and volume knobs working correctly without any scratchiness or cutting out. While very much not the prettiest amp ever made, but it is truly a great amp to hear, you'll have trouble finding such a pure unaltered representation of your guitar even with newer amps.

When I think of the tone on this amp, it just says "that is my guitar and nothing else". It's beauty is truly in it's less-is-more simplicity in design and sound quality. What makes this amp sound great is a simply a quality guitar. Strats have a nice clean, warm, bell-like tone and certain humbucker guitars can overdrive it a bit to give a nasty white stripes tone. Also sounds great with an electric acoustic with a pre-amp.

This amp is low-wattage and old, never to attempt to be heard over a band unless it's mic'd. It's use is for private practice and low key jams.

All the parts including input jacks, knobs, fuse, screws, speaker and unaltered 2-prong cord are all original. As far as service history goes, it has been inspected, cleaned and checked for proper power, removed of an improper grounding causing a slight short by a professional amp maker/technician in 2006 without altering or adding to any of the original circuitry or components. The offending wire was simply moved from accidentally touching another component creating a buzz. I have no other knowledge of any kind of service to this amp other than tube replacement. Unlike many silvertones of the era, this one is untouched. No re-wires, cord replacement, nothing.

The only thing non-vintage/original about the amp are the tubes. When it was first given to me, it had been shelved almost 20 years because the tubes were missing. True to age and form, most of the screws and metal plates have a bit of oxidation & rust on them, and I was advised by professionals to never attempt to remove it or clean it, or replace the original screws as to keep it vintage and all original. This would devalue and possibly damage the original components.

Since I received it around 1998, i have kept it in great operating condition and flexed its wings many times to make sure it's running smooth. Overall its been well cared for. After checking around the internet at various sites and having it appraised, i believe I have made a reasonable asking price. They sell upwards of $400 in some cases. If I can't sell it on Craigslist it'll go on ebay and most likely a higher price considering auction.

I'd rather see it sold to a great local Seattle guitar enthusiast than to some store so they can just jack up the price to the next guy. If you want to come over, bring your guitar and take it for a test drive, I will consider the first few serious offers only.

I'm asking $150

picture below is one off the internet but accurately represents the amp besides the 3 prong cord. Last but not least please don't send emails asking me if it's still for sale. The ad will be taken down the moment it is sold. Thanks.

This looks like a late 70's bassman - though I can't say for sure - since it has 4 knobs on each channel and a Master volume - almost like a Bassman 135 - but it must be a Bassman 70 or something similar.   This would be a nice clean Fender amp to use as a foundation combined with pedals for a nice vintage sound.  Lots of headroom and it will certainly move some air. And it's on wheels (whew!).

I am selling a Fender Bassman 4x10 tube amp. 70 watt version. Being a vintage amp, it's not new but it's in good condition with only a few minor tears in the tolex. Awesome sound that you can only get out of those fender silverfaces but on pot seems to be bad (only a $6.50 fix from Guitar Center). Haven't played it for a long time and just doesn't fit my style. Does not have the original JBL's but sounds great with the replacements. Possible trade/partial trade for bass gear such as cabinets, etc.

Silvertone 5XL tube amp in San Diego CA area for $100

The seller put this 5XL into a new little wooden cabient - may or may not be an improvement over the original.  these are low watt amps but lot of fun and cool for the bedroom and recording.   You could either paint this cabinet or wrap it in tolex. Or just leave it raw.  Either way $100 for a lil vintage tubie is cheap.

Small 5watt tube amp new caps and tubes. great tone for bedroom. full sweet cleans at 3 o'clock. nice bluesy break up starts at half cranked . full dirt bomb at 8. if you dime it it is a kinda farty grunge sound. not too loud. i have a fresh weber speak in now or i will give it with an old utah speaker if you want even more vintage tone.

the cab is home brew pretty rough I just built it quick to hold the thing safely..

Supro Electric in Albuquerquee for $600 - plus..?

this

1985 Gibson Les Paul Studio in Apple Valley CA for $650

This looks like a pretty nice Les Paul Studio from 1984 or 1985 (seller says 1985 so I believe him).  This was the last year with the dot fret markers and this would have an alder cap as well (not maple) and a maple neck (not mahogany).   Still you get a nice - now offically vintage - Les Paul (since the term Vintage usually applies to items 25 years old or older) with most of the trimmings for not alot of money.
