Rare 1974 Mocha Brown Stratocaster in Greensboro SC for $2750

This seller is offering a 1974 Fender Strat in the rare Mocha Brown finish.  This is not an inexpensive guitar by any means but I wanted to highlight it bcause you see so few Strats out there in Mocha Brown (just the occasional vintage or RI Tele Deluxe).   This is very much a 70's Strat and the seller says weighs less than 8 lbs!

For sale is a beautiful 1974 Fender Stratocaster. This guitar is a special player - what they call a "ringer". Has been owned and loved for several years by a top notch professional blues, r&b, soul, christian player. Overall in very good condition. Just few signs of use for 38 year old guitar. Weighs in at around 7.5-8lbs. Very balanced. Features a rarer mocha brown finish with rosewood neck and white parts. The has been refretted (amazing job) and the jumbo frets are in perfect shape. They are a nice compliment to the slimmer neck. It just feels really good. The bridge pickup has been replaced with a '57 custom shop reissue, sounds incredible. The neck and middle pickups are the original grey bottom staggered pole pickups, with clear stamp. I do have the original bridge pickup and it will be included, but I believe it needs to be re-wound. Has a 5-way switch which I do not believe to be original, but most strat players would prefer this over the original 3-way. The volume and middle tone pots are original and date to a '74. I am unsure of the bottom tone pot, to my knowledge it has not been replaced, but it does have a different code on it. All electronics function perfect. The case is a G&G Fender RI case. The pictures do not do this guitar justice - it has tons of vibe, and tons of tone! A true gem. Please email me with any questions or for additional pictures. Thanks so much!

John Frusciante Vintage Guitars

No matter what your opinion of John Frusciante of RHCP  as a guitarist or a person (I happen to like his playing) you can't question his taste in guitars.  He's owned and played some amazing instruments over the years (and had some interesting hairstyles as well LOL).  Check it out:

1964 Univox U-45 tube amp at Jersey Shore for $150

This seller is offering what appears to be a Univox U-45B that he says is in good working condition but he is selling it without any tubes.  This amp model uses 6BM8 power tubes as well as a 6X4 rectifier and a 12AX7 in the preamp section.  The U-45B has three knobs, Volume, Tone, and Tremolo.  The output is often something of a debate due to the less common power tubes and the way the circuit is designed but it is somewhere in the 10 watt - 18 watt range. You can buy new 6BM8 tubes for about $15 each.

Don't conufuse this amp with the U-55R or the U-65R.  They are all different circuits thought they look somewhat similar. This one certainly looks to be in good cosmetic condition.

For a true collector, hobbyist, or old school rocker!! This amp is a gem!! It was made in the USA in 1964 by the Univox Company. It's all tube, 20 watts. It has a 12"Jensen speaker in it. There arent any tubes in it right now. I used the amp last spring in a recording session and it worked great. I never did have the foot switch for it, but they are available. The tubes are easy to get as well... Check it out, you will find this price is the LOWEST ANYWHERE!! Call Matt to come check it out.

1977 Electra X-230 Japan Les Paul in Buffalo for $350

This seller is offering an Electra X-230 which appears to be all original.  Yes, the Electra came stock with one open coil zebra pickup and one chrome humbucker just like the pic. The X-230, sometimes referred to as Omega X-230 (?) is a copy of the Les Paul with a set neck and a Maple capped body and fretboard.  This makes it one of the more desirable Japanese guitars of the "lawsuit" or copy period because it has it's own unique style.

The 5-position "Tone Spectrum" pickup selector on this guitar is similar to the one Gibson was putting on some of their guitars at the time and it selects between the pickups but also chooses series and parallel and also puts them out of phase to give the classic "Peter Green" tone ala the Gibson Jimmy Page model.   There are also two switches below the Volume and Tone to switch between humbucking and single coil tones.  This gives the player a great number of tones to choose from.

There is a great deal of info available about these guitars on the Electra forums.  They are highly loved by players and collectors who appreciate the Matsumoku and Fujigen guitars of this particular era.
