Gibson 1960's LG-3 in Des Moines IA for $400

This seller is offering what appears to be a 1965 Gibson LG-3.  The serial number puts the date at 1965.  The Natural finish instead of the usual Sunburst would make this an LG-3 vs. the more common LG-2.  This guitar should be X-braced and certainly looks like it was well loved and hevily played.  Otherwise it appears to be all original.

1962 Epiphone Olympic Double in Omaha NE for $999

This seller is offering a 1962 or 1963 Epiphone Olympic Double - the more desirable two pickup[ version of this guitar.  These are pretty darn good sounding and playing rock and roll guitars. These are a lot better instruments than they appear at first glance - this is definitely not a Melody Maker.

The $999 price is pretty decent for this guitar - although it does have replacement tuners which is sort of a drag.  Make sure there are no neck break repairs at any point - these often have repaired neck breaks in the used market since they were not always well cared for by the original owners.    - Jim C

Nice guitar that sounds and plays well. I set the action and put this guitar in great playing condition. It is Red with nice thin fingerboard. Very fast player!!! This is a 1962 or 1963. The serial number is 242073. Everything works and this guitar plays very well. Nice sound. Blast from the past. May also sell an old Sure 55SW mike.

Kalamazoo KG-2 in Springfield MO for $299

This seller's Kalamazoo KG-2 is most likely a refin since I don't think black was one of the factory colors on these - I've seen red, white and blue, just like the early Fender Mustangs, but that said, he is correct - his price is very good considering it is otherwise all original including the factory tailpiece etc. Nice deal if you are looking for something like this. - JC

This is a nice vintage instrument in great shape considering the age. It was made as an offshoot of Gibson in the same USA factory alongside SGs and Les Pauls of the era. It is essentially a Melody Maker as far as electronics and hardware are concerned, with two very clear and warm single coils and a Vibrola tailpiece. Just set up and plays well!

$299. FANTASTIC PRICE FOR THIS PIECE! This is a steal! You absolutely cannot find an intact, highly playable 60's vintage guitar made in the USA for anywhere near this price!

Prewar Gibson Archtop - Somebody call this guy in Peoria!

this appears to be a Pre-war Gibson Archtop to me - this guitar could be more than 60 years old. Now these are not worth what the old flat top gibsons are bringing - but it should be at least $650 or more to a collector (maybe alot more). So check it out if you are in this part of the country. The guy sounds like he just wants it gone.

Gibson SG Special w HSC in Anaheim CA for $500

Okay so it's not a "Vintage" guitar - but this is a good deal on the new Gibson SG Special - and this one comes with a HSC too. Personally, I like the SG Specials better than the standard models because the necks are lighter and don't tend to dive (as much).

WELCOME FELLOW CRAIGSLIST GEAR ADDICTS

My name is Jim Christopher and I am a guitarist-songwriter and vintage guitar and amp collector living in Encino, CA. I started this blog as a way to record and hopefully share the exciting vintage guitar and amp treasures popping up on Craigslist all over the United States.

I will be posting as often as I find interesting items and great deals - and hopefully you will be able to score some of these guitars by moving fast and contacting the buyers before they get snapped up. I wish you all the luck since I can't be all over the country at any given time and most often CL sellers are not looking to box up and ship these vintage items but just want to get rid of them to the first local buyer. In general I will not be posting direct links because from what I have seen CL seems to frown on this - but I will be copying photos and posting whatever contact info is available. The rest is up to you.

My collector taste tends to run to the "off-brand" and "weirdo vintage" guitars and amps like Harmony, Kay, Airline, Teisco, Supro, etc (because I am too cheap to spend thousands) - but I will also be noting any particularly good deals on vintage Fender, Gibson, Martin, Marshall, Ampeg, etc guitars and amps. I will also note any particularly good deal s on Pedals and vintage guitar effects. I have about a dozen guitars and about ten tube amps at home right now - probably half of those were purchased from Craigslist. I am always on the lookout for unique guitar related items and appreciate any input or feedback you may want to have to this blog.

If you want to be kept informed, please be sure to subscribe to this blog. That way we can communicate if there is anything time critical and you are chasing a good deal in your local area.

Since I live in Los Angeles, I can only purchase local items directly - but in a perfect world we'd all be able to help one another score those precious vintage guitars and amps we so justifiably seek to attain. I'll do my part - good luck to us all in the hunt.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL READERS

I am reposting items here that are listed on CRAIGSLIST throughout the USA. I am not selling any of these items and I cannot facilitate the sale of anything here - so please do not comment or post questions like "Is this still available?" or "I am interested in your guitar please call me, etc." You need to contact the seller directly by calling the phone number listed on the post or by going to the CL listing and emailing them. NEW FEATURE: Click on the title of the CL Listing inside my post to LINK thru to the original Post. If the original CL listing is deleted the item most likely is no longer available. Thanks for checking out my blog and GOOD LUCK!

Please don't call, contact, bother or harass these sellers long after their post is expired. Take for granted if the listing is over 30 days old that the guitar or amp is LONG GONE! Thank you.
