Airline Electric on eBay - Unusual Model - Going... Going..

Here is an unusual model Airline electric guitar apparently from the 1958 - 1963 period - but it seems to be a mish-mash of varius Valco and Chicago parts from the era. Note the totally whack Bigsby style tailpiece - I've never seen one like that before. The Pickups are just like a Harmony H75 - unusual form one of these slab solid body electrics. Check it out...

Here is a rare 1950's or 1960's Airline electric guitar, made in the USA. I didn't see a serial #. I have never seen another like this. It is in good condition for it's age with nicks, scratches, dings, and wear. The neck is straight with good action. The frets show no wear. All of the electronics work as they should. The pickups look like high end De Armonds, I'm not sure if they are original. The bigsby tremelo looks original. The tuners are gold with black and gold buttons that match the pickguard. The pickguard has a repaired crack by the imput jack. Included is the original hard shell case that is in great shape. This would be a great guitar for any player or collector!

  1. What a crazy piece!! Stratight-up Frankenstein job, but with utterly choice electronics... the kind of stuff I'd use to make a Frankie. That Bigsby is DEFINITELY a mid-to-late 60's Kay, found on their mid-level Vanguards and Titans. The pickups are indeed high-end DeArmonds, the kind found on the H-7x series. No way is the pickguard stock... and the broad fret markers and lack of a zero-fret make this totally suspect... nevertheless, like I said, if I had this body and those parts lying around, this is without a doubt the guitar I'd build for myself!!
