These little Valco made amps are geting harder and harder to find in decent shape for a decent price. The rare 6155 must be the "non-tremolo version" of the 6156 (sometimes called the "Playboy"). That amp has a good rep with Studio players and this particular year has the cabinet-baffle shape and tolex that I prefer. Based on the Valco Serial Number this example should be from 1962. Looks all original to me.
Note: Do not confuse this amp with the 6150 which is just like a Fender Champ - this 6155 is a 17 watt amplifier with a pair of 6973 output tubes and two 12AX7's in the preamp - much more punch, growl and bark than a single 6V6 amp.

Nice looking vintage amp. The amp works but could probably use a little work. It pops and hums when you plug a guitar into it. Gretsch Electromatic #6155 guitar amp. Metal plate at back bottom has T78912 stamped on it.
