Teisco Collectors - a PAIR of Checkmate 17 amps - both Tube and SS in Detroit for $150

What an interesting find for the Teisco collector - this seller is offering both the Tube and SS version of the same amp for one price - $150. Not bad for the Teisco completist.

both the tube and solid state versions of teisco's checkmate 17 guitar amps. both are vintage and were made in japan. they have 10" speakers and feature reverb and tremelo. everything works great except the reverb on the tube version. it requires a piezo? circuit to make it work and they are hard to come by. perhaps installing another reverb pan would suffice. regardless, both amps sound great together and separate. this sale is for both amps.

  2. I don't know anything about Argentina but here in the USA I've never heard of anyone paying more than $500 for a Teisco amp - and that would be for a Checkmate 25 or 50 in excellent shape. They are just not much in demand and even harder to find if you want one - Most of them either blew up or were thrown in the trash. That said - Teisco lovers and fans of John Spencer Blues Explosion etc would love one. I have never heard of the PG95 - but it may have been a model number used in South America. - JC
