This 1484 head has been modified but it looks like it might be some really good quality work - I think he may be confused about the Bias and 18 watts - unless it's been converted to a 6V6 head instead of a dual 6L6 - of course that would be easily reversible. The upgrading of the Reverb tank could ba a big plus if it was done well since the normal cardboard tanks in these are a total POS. Nice deal for somebody.

Mid-60's Sears Silvertone 1484 all tube guitar head
I bought this from is an electrical engineer who knew exactly how to make this amp sound its best. It has a real spring reverb tank (stock reverb on these was horrible), new heavy duty transformer and some other mods that I don't totally understand. Also included is a schematic he drew to show exactly what mods were done.
I think he also changed the bias so it's around 18-20 watts- perfect for getting power tube distortion at reasonable volume.
Clean up to about halfway up. Beyond that it goes from smooth overdrive to a beautiful crunchy distortion.
2 channels, comes with footswitch to control tremolo.
Really don't want to sell, but need cash. Looking for $300 firm.
