The Silvertone 1481 makes a nice alternative to the Champ and this one is about half the price. You won't find too may owenrs of these complaining about the tone - especially for studio use - these are nice sounding amps.

1481 Silvertone amp in excellent condition. 5-7 watts of power into an 8" speaker.
This is an amazing harmonica amp, with simple volume and tone controls.
All tubes are original and test very good, electronics gone through, tube sockets retentioned and cleaned.
One of the inputs was changed to a line out. It works awesome plugging into a larger amp
using the 1481 as a slave amp. Only one mic/guitar input. Also instead of hard wired,
a speaker jack was installed so that you can plug into larger 12" speaker cab.
This amp is louder than you may think. $185, or best offer.
